Dear Mum,

Just a few lines to let you know we have been on the water over a week & expect to land tomorrow. The sea has been very calm all through & I wasn't sick. We shifted onto the boat from Moaska last Sat. week. Started from Moaska at 6 o'clock by train & reached the boat at 3 o'clock next morning. Snowy will be in England by now. I don't think we will be so lucky. Land has been in sight for three or four hours. I am on piquit & Frank is on guard tonight. Well I can't say much more at present but will perhaps be able to write a longer letter when we get on land again. Hoping you are all well as it leaves me at present.

I am your affect son,

Pat.
