Dear Mum,

Just a line to let you know how I am getting on. I am be sent to France in 2 weeks time. I didn't last too long considering the knock I got & the left eye is not too far off being blind. I suppose Herb will be home before this reaches you. He doesn't half know how to work his head. I am just about sick of the camp over here so I shan't be sorry to get back to France. I will be getting 4 days leave to London on Friday which will be very acceptable. I had some letters from my mates in France & they have had a pretty lively time since I left. One platoon, 40 men, of the coy I am in only had one man left after one stunt. They walked right on top of his fields guns. Fritz has been getting a pretty lively time lately but I don't think the war will end for another 12 months if it ends that soon. I haven't had any papers for about 4 months. I suppose Jane is quite a musician by now. News is scarce.

I remain your aff son,

Frank.
